The Last Days of Summer

Me and my friends were just taking advantage of the nice summer weather which is going to end soon and it will be hello Fall or herbst here in Germany. The school kids also return to school yesterday after almost two months of summer vacation. Part of summer adventure is riding in a blimp, looked like a big cigar almost 100 meter long and its filled with helium gas. In germany its called Zeppelin and it travels around our area and the cost... hold your breath... a whooping 175 euro per person for 30 minutes and 350 euro for one hour.

Twizy

Twizy is an electric vehicle, an urban compact two-seater that is incredibly fun to drive. Dirk tried this rechargeable car the other day and he liked it very much. This practical car is produced by Renault and designed for urban driving.

Family Ups and Down

For the past weeks, some good and not sooo good happen in the homefront. My grandaughter was hospitalized because of dengue and now its my adoptive daughter's turn with this dangerous mosquitos. She's still in the hospital recuperating with Dengue and the big problem is the complications, typhoid fever and pneumonia. Thank God She's slowly responding to the treatment. On a lighter note, our shitzuh Cha Cha gave birth to four puppies. The family is very happy with the new additions of man's best friend.

Dengue

Dengue fever is a disease transmitted by a mosquito bite. It is an acute illness of sudden onset that usually follows a benign course with symptoms such as headache, fever, exhaustion, severe muscle and joint pain, swollen glands and rashes. After days of continued raining in our area which submerged most of the metropolis and nearby provinces, my grandaughter is experiencing the symptoms of Dengue. Laboratory tests confirmed her sickness and needs hospital confinement. Thank God that she's already well and back to her normal activities. However neither vaccine nor drugs for preventing infection are available for dengue, we should just be really careful and maintains cleanliness.

Nesselried Brennt

Here are some of the pictures that we took during the two-day Nesselried brennt in our place last weekend. As usual a lot of people from nearby villages attended the annual festival which showcase the village products, entertainment and other activities.
