Busy Mode

Mutti's last day here in our house was spent removing the christmas decorations. My daughter put up all the holiday decorations in October and its now our turn to remove it all. But we have fun doing it together.

While the Bachmann ladies are busy, the man of the house is busy as well entertaining our newfound friend/neighbor, Malou and her british husband. They are also planning to stay here in the Philippines for good.

Foot Spa for Dirk

Nowadays, many spas and clinics offer a very indulging foot spa massage. They decorate and design the foot spa room in such a way that the ambience will make the customer feel relaxed and comfortable, most of them have the Oriental ambiance. So yesterday, Dirk pampered himself with a relaxing executive foot spa in Paseo. He is very much satisfied with the service because most of the dead skins in his foot are gone and he feels rejuvenated. Here in the Philippines, body pampering is affordable compared to Germany.

Happy New Year to All !!!!

New Year in Philippines is one of the major festivals in the country and it is celebrated with great pomp and splendor. 2009 was indeed a blessed year for my family, it is this year that our dream retirement house was materialized. THANK YOU LORD for all the wonderful blessings and also to my better half Dirk, for a wonderful life. I really feel blessed for i was surrounded by a loving family and very supportive Mutti.

We celebrated New Year with family members and relatives. The celebrations take place from New Year’s Eve. Our family gather at night and have a meal together. This believed to signifies good luck and plenty of production in the year ahead.

Though our country experienced the impact of economic crisis and strong typhoons that affected most of our countrymen, there are still a lot of fireworks. The sky is lit with different types of fireworks and it believed to symbolize happiness and prosperity throughout the year. We didn't buy any fireworks, we just enjoyed the displayed of fireworks which cost millions in our terrace. We're just like a zipper running back and forth to view the colorful fireworks in the sky.

We also greet each other and the neighbors a happy new year. In our area before, neighbors beat pots and pans to bring happiness and good luck for the coming year.

My new year's wish, good health and safety for my family and friends. Hope our country will recover from economic crisis and Filipinos should elect competent/honest public officials and a clean and peaceful May 2010 election.

Happy New Year to all especially to my readers around the world and also to Joey, my brother-in-law in the US, All the best for twentyten.

Beating the Heat

We did drive to Canyon Cove in Nasugbu, Batangas yesterday for some changes in our daily routine. While some of our friends complained of freezing temperature in Germany, mutti and dirk enjoyed the beach here.

Daphne, my grandaughter is still very shy with Mutti, but she enjoyed very much the beach and the pool, a good refresher to beat the warm weather.

Public Markets

Its a whole new experience for Mutti to shop at public markets. Yesterday, we did go to Binan Public market to buy some clothing materials for her. Its incomparable compare to shops in Germany. At the public market in Paseo, we bought pork, fruits and vegetables. At least, she was able to experience the Filipino way of life during her short stay here.

A Nice Sunday

After the short visit of Nona and her family, we decided to have a late lunch at Nuvali's korean restaurant. I ordered Congee and Shrimp Siomai while Dirk and Mutti tried the tenderloin dishes. The food tastes good though Mutti always disliked dishes with garlic.

We then shopped at the nearby small stores where i tried kwek kwek, a birds egg coated with flour.
